Destiny is alive and well in all of our lives. Think of “destiny” having two components: the lessons we are meant to learn in this lifetime plus somehow using the gifts (or “talents”) that have been given to us in this lifetime. You can try to avoid your destiny (for awhile anyway). It is a painful process and I don’t recommend it. However, if you so choose to get yourself strung out on drugs or sex or some other nasty habit, you do have free will and it’s your right to do so.
Can you change your destiny? The short answer is no. You can delay it, you can fail to achieve it, you can half-ass it but anything less than actually doing it puts you in jeopardy of coming back to do it all over again. The good news here is that chances are real good that the thing that you were put on this earth to do is probably something you want to do anyway (or something you don’t know about yet that will make you happy). As Joseph Campbell says, “Follow your bliss.” Remember, God wants us to be happy and fulfill our destiny.
So, how do you find out what is your destiny? Well, that’s sort of one of the objectives of the spiritual path, to find out what your talents are and the best way to use them. Sometimes this information comes quickly and sometimes it takes years. Part of the problem may be that you have to be ready to hear the message.
If we are unhappy, does that mean we are not following our destiny? Usually, yes. Besides an occasional bad day, if you find yourself terminally pissed off, then yeah, there’s probably something else out there for you. Now, that may just mean a career change or it could be time for you to completely bulldoze your life.
However you want to see them, higher beings are here to help us down our spiritual path. For some, this is a gentle nudge once in a while, for others, that job is more labor intensive. Don’t get me wrong, everyone has issues to overcome but some issues are easier to deal with than others.
As a high priestess, I can say honestly that over 85% of all the work I have done over the last 8 years has been helping folks work through their past hurts and issues (including myself). Generally, once you get people fixed up and running smoothly, they will intuitively know what to do after that.
