One of the things I look forward to at the end of winter is the explosion of pink flowers produced by the redbud trees. A cheerful tree, the redbud brings a smile to everyone’s face.
Medicinal Uses: The pink flowers are edible and have a slightly sweet yet sour taste. The bean pods are also edible but must be eaten before they dry out. It is unknown if there are medicinal uses for the tree.
Spiritual Uses: Redbud is associated with maternal love. If you are needing some mommy comforting in your life, get to know this tree. Redbud can also help you release the emotional pain so that you can move on with your life. This is even more so if that pain is causing sexual blockages.
Redbud is a deciduous tree that is native to the Eastern US. They are also popular ornamental trees. They are the only member of the legumes in North America to produce heart shaped leaves, as most other legumes produce compound leaves (like the acacias). Bees are attracted to the flowers, which give way to bean pods that will darken as they age.
