A fast growing, very large tree native to Australia, eucalyptus is synonymous with OTC cough and cold remedies. However, whether on the physical plane or the spiritual plane, what eucalyptus does best is get rid of excess fluids.

Medicinal Uses: Eucalyptus loosens phlegm in the respiratory system and combined with its antibiotic and antiviral properties make it a wonderful treatment for cold and flu season. It is also used for wound healing. Its strong odor repels insects, including roaches, lice and fleas.

Spiritual Uses: It should come as no surprise that eucalyptus is commonly used in healing spells. Spiritually, eucalyptus can clear your head (and mind). When you are overload w/excess emotions, eucalyptus can help clear that excess away. This member of the Myrtle family will provide emotional protection.

Eucalyptus trees can grow up to 300 feet and will store large amounts of water in their roots that they draw up from the surrounding environment. It is an evergreen tree with grey-green leathery leaves and smooth gray trunk. The young leaves are more heart shaped and become long and narrow as they age. Eucalyptus trees grow well in warmer, wetter regions and have been introduced to India, Europe, Africa and the Americas.
